French patisserie maker Boncolac is expanding its deli products activity with a new manufacturing plant in south-west France.
The 8,600sq m facility, located near Agen, will replace a smaller one and is being built on a business park occupied by a cluster of firms specialising in food-related activities.
While Boncolac will be the plant’s tenant with a buy-out option, it is investing EUR9m (US$11.8m) in machinery and equipment.
The facility is expected to employ around 100 staff and will produce canapés for supermarket private label as well as for frozen food retail chains.
Boncolac is owned by 3A Coop, which was acquired by French dairy group Sodiaal in June. The company employs around 500 staff and generated a 2012 turnover of EUR107m.
