French food group Bonduelle has today (14 May) confirmed that it wants to buy a majority stake in Aliments Carrière, Canada’s leading producer of canned and frozen vegetables.
Bonduelle, which produces a range of frozen and chilled products, bought a 13% interest in Aliments Carrière last year. Bonduelle said it would take control of over 50% of Aliments Carrière in July.
Aliments Carrière controls over 70% of the domestic market for canned and frozen vegetables and has seven processing plants in Canada.
Meanwhile, Bonduelle also said today that turnover rose almost 5% during the first nine months of the year. The company reported a 4.8% increase in revenue to EUR908.9m (US$1.2bn) for the nine months to 31 March.
