Carrefour’s hard discount arm, Ed, is investing an initial €14m (US$17.0m) in a new distribution centre in eastern France.

To be built near Dambach-la-Ville, in proximity to Strasbourg, the centre will have a surface area of 24,000 sq.m. when fully-developed  and lead to the creation of up to 250 jobs.

Ed acquired 44 shops in eastern France in November last year from German group, Treff Marche and is planning to increase its network in this part of the country to between 70 and 75 outlets.
