Casino Guichard-Perrachon has taken operational control of its Leader Price subsidiary, the French supermarket group said today (10 April).
Casino, which is aiming to turn around Leader Price’s lacklustre sales performance, also named Jean-Michel Duhamel as managing director of the unit’s two operational divisions.
Duhamel took over as chairman of Leader Price Holding last week. Replacing two members of the Baud family, who founded Leader Price, Duhamel was named MD of Distribution Leader Price and Retail Leader Price Investissements at shareholder meetings.
Last month, Casino revealed ambitions to take operational control of Leader Price due to flagging sales. Under the new management, Casino, which owns a 75% stake in Leader Price, said the unit would now focus on increasing sales.
