Swiss cheese group Emmi is to deepen its relationship with Italian firm Ambrosi with a joint venture in France.

Emmi, which bought a 25% stake in Ambrosi last month, said the companies would merge their French operations and form Ambrosi Emmi France next year.

The Swiss firm said it hopes the venture would sell a “comprehensive, high-quality range of traditional Swiss and Italian cheeses” and boost the international growth of both businesses.

The joint venture would “considerably strengthen” Emmi and Ambrosi’s position in France, Emmi added.
