French dairy firm Collet, based in Roanne, near Lyon, is investing more than EUR6m (US$8.1m) in the construction of a 4,000 sq m plant.
The plant will comprise four production lines specialising in fromage blanc, yoghurt, fresh milk and fruit preparations and also be equipped with a storage zone.
Scheduled to open by the end of 2009, it will have an annual production capacity of up to 6,500 tonnes. Collet’s existing plant, which has an annual capacity of 1,500 tonnes, will specialise in small-volume and special products.
The family-firm has a turnover of around EUR3m and has achieved annual growth (in turnover) of 20% in recent years.
