Entremont Alliance, the company set up following the merger of the milk products activities of Europe’s leading hard cheese maker Entremont Fromager and Brittany-based cooperative Unicopa, are to make 173 job cuts as part of a reorganisation project which sees activities being transferred from certain plants to others within the group.
However, Entremont Alliance has indicated that up to 200 jobs are available elsewhere in the group, of which 100 in Brittany where the cutbacks are planned.
The merger, which took effect from October 2005, has annual milk supplies of around 2.3bn litres which are used in the production 195,000 tonnes of cheeses and 65,000 tonnes of milk powders.
