Danone has confirmed it is planning to invest “several millions of euros” in a reorganisation of its five French plants producing yoghurts, cream desserts and fromages blancs.
The project, presented at a Danone works council meeting at the end of last week, will see production at the sites shaken up. Each facility will focus on a specific product range.
The Danette cream desserts will be manufactured in Saint-Just, near Lyon, while traditional yoghurts will be made in Bailleul, in northern France.
Fruit yoghurts bound for northern European markets will be produced in Ferrière-en-Bray in Normandy, while speciality and innovative products will also be made in Normandy in Molay-Littry. Fruit yogurts for the national market will be produced in Villecomtal in south-west France.
Danone underlined that the reorganisation in no way reflected a reduction in capacity but was rather a move to optimise and modernise production capability with output in France set to increase.
