France-based Elior, one of Europe’s biggest contract catering groups, has sold its Pomme de Pain chain of sandwich shops to investment fund Acto for an undisclosed sum.

At the presentation of its interim results last week, Elior had indicated it had begun the process of shedding its fastfood outlets located in shopping centre/city centre sites which apart from Pomme de Pain also include the Quick restaurant chain.

Acquired by Elior in 1995, Pomme de Pain operates 52 outlets, generating a turnover of  €30m (US$36.1m), while a further 22 outlets are franchised.
