French dairy co-operative Eurial is investing EUR12m (US$16.2m) over the next three years to expand its capacity to produce mozzarella.
Eurial will more than double production at the Luçon facility in western France.
Capacity at the 14,500 square metre plant will increase from 80m litres of milk annually to 200m, increasing staff numbers by 50 to 150.
Eurial’s mozzarella is supplied to the food industry as a cheese ingredient, with more than 50% exported.
France’s competition authority recently gave its approval for Agrial and Eurial to combine dairy assets and exchange shareholdings. Combined sales will be around EUR2bn, with including goat’s cheeses, ultra-fresh dairy lines and cheese ingredients.
