Ferrero has signed a ten-year deal for the naming rights of a new sporting arena in the French town of Rouen.
The 6,000-seat stadium, which will host national and international basketball, gymnastics, martial arts, volleyball and handball, will be called the Kindarena, after the confectionery giant’s Kinder brand.
The EUR500,000 (US$675,000)-a-year deal will also see the main hall of the EUR54.2m Kindarena, which will be completed in September 2012, emblazoned with the red and white colours of the Kinder brand.
The deal was signed last week (16 November) between the Urban Community of Rouen-Elbeuf-Austreberthe (CREA), which is building the stadium, and Ferrero France.
“This is a major step in the history of our company. We have always placed respect for communities and development of territories in which we operate at the heart of our concerns. This partnership is a way to support the region and contribute at a national level”, Ferrero France CEO Frederic Thil said.
The chocolatier also sponsors the French national basketball team and a basketball team in Rouen.
