Massif Central-based dairy group, La Laiterie Toury de Saint-Genès-Champanelle (Toury) and seven subsidiaries belonging to the Toury family, have gone into administration with debts estimated at EUR100m (US$135.25m).


The group has a global annual turnover of around EUR230m and employs close to 400 staff. It collects milk from around 850 local producers totalling 135m litres annually.


Toury is known for its Saint Nectaire cheese as well as mountain milk which supplies to Carrefour.


Several unidentified groups, both French and international, are said to be interested in acquiring the family firm which dates back four generations.
