Sales at French supermarkets fell 2.6% in March compared to the year-ago period, while sales at supermarkets in the country slid 1.9%.

Stating the sales figures, France’s FCD retailers federation said this was due to the fact that Easter is much later this year, falling on 20 April, compared to 31 March last year, reported Reuters.

Sales for the first three months rose 1.5% for hypermarkets and 1.8% for supermarkets.
