French retailer Hyparlo, a separately listed franchise partner of French retail giant Carrefour, has posted first quarter sales of €243.2m (US$262.3m), down 6% compared to the year-ago period.

Hyparlo attributed the fall in sales to a decision to sell off its Italian unit at the beginning of this year. The unit recorded revenue of €23.7m in the first three months of 2002.

Excluding sales at its Italian unit, Hyparlo’s revenue in the first quarter grew 3.6%, boosted by sales growth at its French shops and its outlet in Romania, reported Dow Jones International News.
