French dairy products group Lactalis has acquired Haute Savoie-based cheese maker Pochat, the latest in a growing list of acquisitions made in the past year.


Family-run firm Pochat produces 9,000 tonnes of regional cheeses annually such as tomme and reblochon. and which generates a turnover of €70m (US$92.8m).


Lactalis already runs a cheese-making plant in Haute-Savoei region producing 4,000 tonnes of reblochon annually.
