French based supermarket chain Carrefour today (Thursday) announced that it has sold its assets in Mexico to food retailer Chedraui.

The sale includes 29 hypermarkets plus two hypermarket projects due to open in 2005. Carrefour’s sales in Mexico in 2004 were €519m (US$698m). Chedraui is a leading Mexican food retailer, Carrefour said. It trades currently from 64 hypermarkets in the south of the country.
