Herbignac Cheese Ingredients (HCI)’s new mozzarella factory is due to commence production this summer.

The new facility reportedly cost EUR53.6m and construction was funded by four dairy groups – Eurial Poitouraine, Ingredia, Sodiaal and Bonilait Protéines – with additional cash coming from the French government and the EU.

A spokesperson for Eurial Poitouraine confirmed that construction was coming along “as planned”.

The plant will have an annual processing capacity of 270m litres of milk and will manufacture 30,000 tonnes of mozzarella cheese a year.
