French food processing group Norac has acquired Dessaint Traiteur, which specialises in prepared salad dishes and sweet and savoury crepes and is based in Arras, in northern France.

The company, which has an annual turnover of €20m (US$23.7m), also has a production site in Aix-en-Provence, in southern France. It is also planning to open a third plant at Bournezeau, in the western region of Vendee in 2004.


Last year, Norac acquired Asian ready-made meals producer Took Hook Sud n’Sol, whose speciality in marinating fresh vegetables. Norac is also present in the fresh sandwiches and children’s snacks segments.


Based in Rennes, Norac’s turnover has risen from €183m in 2000 to €351m last year.
