French food retail association FCD said poultry retail sales fell by 20% in volume terms on concern that the potentially fatal H5N1 bird flu virus was making its way into Europe.
Meanwhile a villager has become the 13th person to die of bird flu in Thailand while his son is being treated for flu-like symptoms. He is the first person to die of bird flu in Thailand this year.
