Senoble, France’s leading producer of retailers’ own-brand dairy products, is continuing its international expansion with the acquisition of Slovakian counterpart, Gemerska Mliekaren.


The value of the transaction, which is subject to regulatory approval, has not been disclosed.


Based in the south of Slovakia, Gemerska Mliekaren employs 85 staff and is expected to report a 2007 turnover of EUR23m (US$x). The company collects around 65m litres of milk annually.


Senoble already has an established presence in Slovakia, being the country’s leading yogurt producer As a result of the acquisition of Gemerska Mliekaren, Senoble will also take top spot for milk and butter production.


Last month, Senoble purchased UK-based Elisabeth the Chef which specialises in chilled, ambient and frozen cakes, components and dessert products. Earlier in the year, Senoble announced a EUR30m investment programme to increase the capacity of its manufacturing plants.
