French poultry group Lambert Dodard Chancereul (LDC) has acquired Spanish family firm Avilla Ves.
This is LDC’s second purchase in Spain, having acquired Hermano Saiz six years ago.
Avilla Ves slaughters 130,000 chickens per week and has a turnover of €15m (US$14.9m).
LDC plans to upgrade slaughtering facilities and lift capacity to 200,000 chickens weekly in order to meet demand from Spain’s supermarket chains.
Total investment, including the purchase of Avilla Ves, is estimated at €8m.
