French food company Andros plans to acquire family-run business Spreewaldkonserve Golben, a Germany-based producer of pickles, along with its Hungarian subsidiary Schenk és Társa.

The deal will be conducted through Andros’ German unit Andros Deutschland and includes the Spreewaldhof brand of pickles. Financial terms have not been disclosed for the transaction, which is subject to approval from competition authorities.

Spreewaldkonserve was founded almost 130 years ago and is currently run by third-generation family members, siblings Karin Seidel and Konrad Linkenheil. The company produces about 32 different fruit- and vegetable-based pickles from its two German plants in Golben, Bergisdorf, and Schöneiche in Brandenburg, as well as the facility in Hungary.

Its products are sold in around 30 countries generating sales of EUR109m (US$132.3m) in its 2018/19 fiscal year.

"With Andros we have the right owner-managed group of companies for the successful continuation and competitive further development of our family business. "

Andros is a privately-owned company engaged in fruit processing and the manufacture of fruit desserts, fruit-based yogurts, jams and fruit juices under brands such as Odenwald and Bonne Maman. It serves the retail and foodservice channels, along with private-label customers.
