French organic ready meals specialist Karine & Jeff is investing EUR2m in doubling production capacity in response to business growth, in particular, for exports.

Karine & Jeff will begin work later this year on extending manufacturing and packaging facilities for its range of vegetable, fruit and cereal-based soups, purées, sauces and jams, which are presented in jars and bottles.

Its products are marketed largely from organic food stores and fine grocer outlets.

Karine & Jeff ‘s international ambitions took a step forward this year with the appointment of a commercial manager based in Los Angeles to develop its business in North America, where around 40 products are available in more than 200 organic food outlets, a spokesperson told just-food.

“We’re on the point of dispatching our first orders to two big organic food chains in the US and are looking to generate a turnover of around EUR700,000 in 2017 in the North American market where we started from scratch about one year ago. We hope to build significantly on this growth.

Last year, the company posted a turnover of EUR3m, compared to EUR1.9m in 2015. The target is EUR4m in 2017.

Karine & Jeff also exports to the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Japan and Qatar and a prime objective is to develop its presence in Germany.
