German dairy group DMK has appointed Dr Ralf Zink to lead its R&D.

Zink will be responsible for all R&D projects in the field of milk and milk products, cheese, powders and ingredients, and technology packaging development for the firm. He will take up the role with immediate effect.

Zink succeeds Manfred Feldman, who is entering partial retirement at the end of April after 18 years of service with DMK. Feldman will return to the company on a consultancy basis for “special projects”, the firm said.

Moving to DMK from his own consultancy firm, Functional Solutions, Zink has held positions as head of R&D for Nestle’s dairy research centre in Lausanne and as director of global technology and R&D for Cognis.
