Metro Group, the German retailer, is to cut “hundreds” of jobs from its domestic cash-and-carry operations.
The company said the jobs would be lost across its Metro Cash and Carry outlets in Germany but declined to specify how many positions would go.
A spokesman for Metro said the move was designed to improve the company’s focus on its customers in the hotel, restaurant and catering channel.
“Horeca and traders are our key customers. We want to focus more on them. By doing so we are sure to stimulate our growth,” the spokesman told just-food today (8 October).
