Halal frozen food group Mekkafood has said that it will open a production facility this month.
The company is opening a 3500 sq metre factory in the Dutch town of Venlo, Mekkafood said.
“We are opening a new facility as well as introducing new products as we see continued demand growth for halal foods. We continue to invest in developing new products for the market,” a spokesperson for the company told just-food.
Mekkafood is rolling out two new products – Lahmacun, or Turkish pizza, and mincemeat-filled Pide.
The new facility will manufacture Lahmacun and has the capacity to produce 15,000 pizzas per hour.
