Metro Group plans to divest 27 under-performing Real stores, a spokesperson for the German retailer told just-food today (13 June).

The company is currently seeking buyers as it hopes the stores will remain open.

“The stores should not be closed,” a Metro spokesman said. “We are looking for successors so the stores could ideally be operated under a new brand name without interruption to service.”

Metro added that it was unlikely that any one buyer could be found for all 27 outlets.

“The entire amount of 27 markets should not be handed over to a single successor but more or less every single market will probably get an individual successor,” the spokesman.
