North German sugar processor Nordzucker says it plans to continue growing by acquisition in eastern Europe, and has set aside DM200m (US$89m) for this purpose. The group has already bought up companies in the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia, to the tune of some DM220m. According to German daily Handelsblatt, most of these acquisitions will be profitable by the end of this year. Nordzucker is believed to be eyeing Poland for its next acquisition, but no potential target has been officially identified.
