One person was killed and seven others injured after a crane fell on an Aldi store in Germany yesterday (11 December), according to reports.

The accident happened yesterday morning local time at an outlet in the German city of Bad Homburg, north of Frankfurt. A crane on a building site next to the store fell onto the supermarket, causing part of the roof to collapse.

A 45-year-old female shopper was killed, while her 74-year-old mother was seriously injured, the Frankfurter Rundschau daily newspaper reported on its website today.

Another of the injured was the crane operator, the report added.
