German competition authority Bundeskartellamt has reportedly approved the takeover of privately-owned German dairy Onken by German food producer Dr Oetker Nahrungsmittel.
Onken announced in April that Dr Oetker had agreed to buy the company. Dr August Oetker Nahrungsmittel, a subsidiary of Dr Oetker International, has a turnover of €581m (US$718m) and employs 3,000 people.
Onken has factories in Germany, Poland and Russia, and sales operations in the UK and other European countries. It had turnover of €200m in 2003.
