GERMANY: Saxony reports 773,300 tonnes of milk produced
The amount of milk produced in the eastern German state of Saxony during the first half of 2002 was up 1% from last year to 3,720kg per cow, a total of 773,300 tonnes, according to the state statistics office. Local dairies bought 90% of the milk, while neighbouring state Saxony-Anhalt processed 5%. South-western state Bavaria processed 4%, with the remainder being sold in Brandenburg and Thuringia in eastern Germany.
