Greek sugar producer Hellenic Sugar Industry has acquired a sugar plant in Zabalj, in northern Serbia. The company is also currently in negotiations with the Serbian government over the potential purchase of a sugar plant in Crvenka. Both plants have an annual capacity of between 30,000 and 40,000 tonnes of sugar, reported the Greek News Digest.
