Grupo Bimbo has launched a range of gluten-free crackers, Sanissimo Salmas, into Canada’s snacks sector.

The crackers are made with non-GMO whole-grain corn flour, oven-baked and contain no artificial flavours or colours, sugars or trans-fats, local Grupo Bimbo subsidiary Canada Bread said.

Talia Lysiak, Canada Bread’s marketing director, added: “Canadians have told us that they want snacking options made with wholesome ingredients, but they don’t want to sacrifice on taste. With a light and crispy texture and made with only four ingredients, Sanissimo Salmas are just that.”

Each three-cracker portion contains 70 calories and zero trans-fat, the company said. Each box contains eight individual portions of three crackers per box.

Sanissimo Salmas are available at mass market retailers in Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic provinces.

Canada Bread was acquired by Grupo Bimbo from Maple Leaf Foods in a deal struck in 2014
