Grupo Empresarial Costa, the Spanish company behind meat processor Costa Food Group, has acquired Embutidos La Nuncia, another business in the sector.
Embutidos la Nuncia, located in Casarrubios del Monte close to Madrid, produces and markets products from pig meat such as marinated, processed, Iberian and salted.
Announcing the deal, Grupo Empresarial Costa said Embutidos La Nuncia “complements its offer within the modern channel, adding fresh and semi-finished products to its current range of cooked, cured and ham products”. Financial details were not disclosed.
The deal follows another struck in December when Grupo Empresarial Costa snapped up Industrias Cárnicas Villar, a transaction the buyer said made it “one of the main groups in the meat sector”.
Grupo Empresarial Costa is a conglomerate present in the agri-food, renewable energy, automotive, chemical and real estate industries. Within agri-food, the group operates in 107 countries through the Costa Food Group meat holding, which is made up of Industrias Cárnicas Villar, Piensos Costa, Costa Food Meat and Casademont.
Costa Food Group, which has more than 600 farms, describes itself as “one of the main producers in the pig sector in the European field”.
