Guatemalan fast food chicken giant Pollo Campero  will open a franchise in Shanghai later this year as part of a massive expansion plan to eventually establish 600 restaurants in China and Indonesia, according to the Associated Press.


Pollo Campero, which operates in Central America and parts of Mexico, opened a restaurant in Los Angeles in 2002 and now has 22 US restaurants there and in Houston, Dallas, Washington and New York.


“Beginning with our expansion to the United States, the brand has generated interest for international investors,” Pollo Campero’s general manager, Juan Jose Gutierrez, said in an interview, adding “the news from Campero is it continues to be a success and that allows us to access markets in the rest of the world
