Aldi, the discount retailer, has stayed tight-lipped over its plans to enter Hungary.
According to reports, the chain will open its first stores this Thursday (17 April) but the German grocery retailer is remaining secretive about the details of the launch.
“We are not currently releasing details of this launch,” a spokesperson for the retailer told just-food this afternoon. “We have people on the ground, but we want to keep our plans under wraps right now.”
Aldi intends to open more than a dozen outlets in major Hungarian towns and around Budapest this month, the daily Népszabadság reported.
It is believed that the group is likely to open up to 50 more stores during its first year of operation in Hungary.
