Unilever has emphasised its commitment to its Hungarian ice cream operations, announcing plans to expand its Vezprem plant.

The manufacturer said on Friday (15 July) that it plans to invest HUF2.2bn (US$11.3m) in extending its cold store facilities by some 7,500 square metres and expanding its packaging facility. It confirmed that it is planning further investment into the site.

Unilever said that, in recent years, competition in the market due to accelerated product development and production expansion has meant the facility’s storage capacity is “far behind” the level the company needs. The UK-based consumer goods giant is currently using buffer storage outside the factory.
