Swiss chocolate giant Barry Callebaut is courting the Indian market through the establishment of a chocolate academy in Mumbai.
At the state-of-the-art gourmet academy, artisans and culinary professionals can receive training in the uses of chocolate. Courses include workshops, seminars and demonstrations.
“India has great market potential and we see an interest in new entrants in the market who want to work with chocolate,” a spokesperson for Barry Callebaut told just-food.
The company added that its entry into India is in-line with its strategy to capture growth opportunities in high-growth emerging markets.
“The move demonstrates the company’s commitment to building its business and strengthening relationships with chocolatiers and chefs in the country,” the chocolate-maker said.
The Mumbai academy is the company’s twelfth such training facility worldwide.
