Bharti Del Monte India, a venture between Indian conglomerate Bharti Enterprises and Del Monte Pacific  is to set up a manufacturing plant in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.


The 50:50 venture will invest over US$25m on the manufacturing plant near Hosur, with production expected to start next year.


The business is also looking to introduce products made by Del Monte Pacific in Singapore including packaged fruits, sauces, Italian pasta, olives and olive oil onto the Indian market.


The new range marks Bharti Enterprises’ entry into India’s processed food market.


The venture aims to produce the products within India next year.
