Satnam Foods has unveiled what it claims to be India’s first homegrown French fries brand.
The company has launched Mr Fries following US$25m of investment in India’s first state-of the-art chip manufacturing plant, based in Jalandar in the Punjab.
“We have test-marketed the product and today Mr Fries will be in the market, at 50% less than other imported brands from companies like McCain and Lamb Weston,” Mandeep Singh, the farmer-turned-entrepreneur and MD of Satnam Agro Products, told just-food.
Singh said the cost of producing French fries will be low since Satnam cultivates its own potatoes on 3000 acres of land in the Punjab.
“Being able to supply good quality at low costs will bag us a market share of around 70% in India”, Singh predicted.
