Two former Wal-Mart Stores executives are to join Reliance Retail, India’s largest retailer.
A spokesperson for Reliance confirmed today (4 June) that Rob Cissell will become its CEO while Shawn Gray is set to join as COO.
Reliance is India’s largest retailer and operates more than 1,000 retail stores across India.
Cissell was previously vice president and chief operating officer of Wal-Mart China. Gray was vice president of Wal-Mart China’s hypermarket operations.
Reports in India said the pair – who left Wal-Mart’s Chinese operations in May and June respectively – would join Reliance in September.
The spokesperson refused to be drawn on when the executive would join the company and declined to comment further.
