Hershey is to enter the chocolate sector in India with the local launch of one of its flagship brands, Kisses.
Local venture partner Godrej Beverages & Foods told just-food today (9 June) that it has developed two products for the market, which it hopes to launch this year.
The venture between the two companies, Godrej Hershey, already sells food and confectionery items in India – but as yet no chocolate.
However, Godrej said it will launch a range of chocolate confectionery products in India by the end of the year – two flavours of the Kisses range and a chocolate roll, yet to be named.
“The joint venture between Godrej and Hershey happened in 2007 and we have almost now narrowed down a product mix and a brand mix. We are planning to launch these products by the end of the year,” the spokesperson for Godrej said.
The Kisses products, developed specifically for the Indian market, will be available in ‘crispies’ and ‘almond’ variants.
