Indian food group Himalaya International is eyeing increased sales in its domestic market, as it prepares to start a supply deal with Reliance Retail and begin production at a newly-built yoghurt plant.
A spokesperson for the company told just-food this morning (12 September) that it will achieve this by expanding its product portfolio, production and distribution.
“We intend to expand our unit in India. We have tied up with Reliance Retail to increase distribution and we are expanding production,” the spokesperson said.
Himalaya revealed that it will be supplying Reliance with Indian sweets, Indian cheese panir and appetisers.
The company is also preparing to open a “modern plant for the production of yoghurt”, the spokesperson said. This is expected to be operational within the next 15 days.
