Kraft Foods has launched its Oreo cookie brand in the Indian market through its local subsidiary Cadbury India.

A spokesperson for Cadbury India told just-food that the group has focused on building on existing categories and brands over the past 12 months. Nevertheless, the spokesperson insisted that there is an “enormous opportunity” to bring products from the Kraft portfolio to India.

“Oreo is now being manufactured locally and will therefore be widely available to consumers – at hundreds of thousands of retail outlets across urban and semi urban markets in attractive packaging at affordable price points,” the spokesperson said.

Cadbury India has also launched Kraft’s Tang cordial in India, the spokesperson added.
