Mark Pi International, one of North America’s top five Chinese fastfood chains, is poised to move into the Indian subcontinent by entering into an alliance with New Delhi based Trak Services

This is Mark Pi International’s first initiative outside the US. The company operates over 50 outlets and has ambitious plans to open 20 outlets in India by the end of 2004.

Within five years the chain would be covering all the metros by investing over Rs. 20 crores (US$4.36m) and would be looking at reaching the smaller cities with a population of more than five million.

Founder Mark Pi commented in a release: “Mark Pi International has been following the Indian market for quite some time. We feel that the Indian market poses a great challenge and yet offers tremendous opportunity. It is maturing both from the demand and supply perspectives and we as a business group would like to capitalise on it.”

This tie-up will be the first step for Trak services in the hospitality sector. It has hitherto been primarily associated in ventures in the IT and IT Enabled Services domain.
