Indian regulators have reportedly upheld Kraft Foods Group's intellectual property rights to the Jell-O brand and ordered the trademark registrar to remove the Health Food Product Ltd-owned Mellow Jello TM from its lists.
According to a report in Indian newspaper Business Standard, HFPL registered Mello Jello as a trademark in 2011. But US-based Kraft filed a rectification application with the Intellectual Property Appellate Board (IPAB).
The IPAB found in Kraft's favour and ordered the trademark to be struck down.
Representatives for HFPL and Kraft did not respond to requests for comment at time of press.
