Noodle maker Indofood Sukses Makmur has seen profits rise over 18% so far this year thanks to rising sales volumes.

The company booked an 18.3% increase in operating profit to IND1.7 trillion (US$187m). Sales jumped almost 23% to IND16 trillion.

CEO Anthoni Salim said the company had shrugged an “unprecedented” increase in raw material and fuel costs.

Salim said: “Despite these challenges, Indofood is able to deliver double digit growth in gross and operating profit through the combination of sales volume growth in most of the divisions, the ability to adjust the selling prices of some of the products and continuing cost efficiency programmes.”
