Philippines-based food firm San Miguel Corp has approached Indomarco, a distribution unit of Indonesian noodle maker Indofood, regarding a proposed food and drink distribution deal, according to Indofood deputy CEO Cesar de la Cruz.
“(San Miguel) met with our distribution unit, Indomarco. They want us to distribute their products,” De la Cruz was quoted by AFX Asia as saying, adding that the meeting took place a few weeks ago.
Sam Miguel, which is the largest publicly-listed food, beverage and packaging company in the Philippines, is reportedly in talks with two to three Indonesian firms regarding the company’s expansion there.
Last year San Miguel tried unsuccessfully to acquire a stake in Indofood, reported AFX.
