Cadbury has won a temporary court injunction in Ireland against an electricians blockade at its Coolock manufacturing site.
The confectionery giant, which is set to cut jobs at the facility, took legal action after the blockade halted production at the plant.
Some 200 jobs at Cadbury’s Coolock and Rathbone sites are facing the axe amid a revamp of the UK’s group’s manufacturing base in Ireland.
Cadbury insisted, however, that the blockade was not linked to its plans but was part of a wider despite between the electricians’ union and the construction industry.
Nonetheless, Cadbury said it had been forced to seek an injunction in a bid to get production restarted at Coolock.

By GlobalData“Our manufacturing site in Coolock has been targeted for secondary picketing … by persons unknown to our business. This action has caused considerable disruption to our manufacturing activities resulting in a complete cessation of production in Coolock,” Cadbury said.
Production is set to restart “as soon as possible”, the group added.
The injunction will last until Friday week (10 July) when the situation will be reviewed.
