Irish supermarket operator Dunnes Stores has lost market share to foreign-owned competitors, according to the latest data.

Figures from market research firm Taylor Nelson Sofres show Dunnes’ share of the grocery retail market fell to 21.5% in July, compared to 22.2% a year earlier, reported the Business and Finance Daily News Service.


Meanwhile, Tesco Ireland, a unit of UK-based Tesco, saw its market share increase to 24.6% from 24.2%.


German discount retailers Aldi and Lidl increased their market share to 5.4% from 4.2%, the report said.
